Ethan Barkalow ’18, Tossapol (Poy) Pholcharee ’18, and Jorge Gómez ’18 presented to their fellow Japanese language students about their experiences studying Japanese language at Bowdoin.

Poy (biology and mathematics) and Jorge (chemistry) gave a joint presentation that focused on their experiences balancing their science majors with Japanese language study. They talked about what instigated their interest in Japanese, travel and study tips, and finished with words of encouragement for those students just beginning their Japanese studies.

Ethan gave the humanities perspective as a history major with an environmental studies focus. He highlighted the friendships that he developed in the Japanese program and expressed appreciation for the Japanese faculty who have helped him to pursue his interest in environmental history as it pertains to Japan.
