Coach Fran Dunphy’s Temple University Owls may have seen their NCAA Tournament bubble burst Sunday as they just missed out on receiving an at-large bid to the Division I Tournament. But Dunphy gained legions of fans last week when he accepted the American Athletic Conference’s Coach of the Year Award in memory of his good friend, former Associate Dean Wil Smith ’00, who died last month.
