The Dog Didn’t Eat My Homework, He Deleted It (Times Higher Education) Archives

During John Curry’s career as a lecturer in computing at the City of Bath College, he has heard an array of extraordinary excuses from students trying to explain a missed deadline. His list includes one student who asked for extra time after he was wrongly delayed in China on suspicions he was a spy, and another who said he had been legally declared dead in India and was in danger of losing his home to the government.

Curry told the Times Higher Education that he has also heard others students trying to explain away an absent assignment because of problems with a noisy ghost, a pet deleting a word document or eating a USB stick, or the outbreak of civil war.
