Emma Cutler ’13 is spending fall semester participating in Bowdoin’s Intercollegiate Sri Lanka Education (ISLE) Program. In addition to her studies of anthropology, economics, environmental studies, government, history, literature, philosophy and religion, taken in small course seminars in Kandy, Cutler is blogging about her adventures, taking readers along with her on scenic hikes, train rides through the backcountry, celebrations for full moon day, and a visit to an elephant orphanage. Read Cutler’s blog, Adventures in Sri Lanka.
Established in 1982, ISLE is a consortium program offering students from Bates, Bowdoin, Carleton, Colby, Grinnell, Holy Cross, Macalester, Swarthmore and Whittier Colleges the chance to study abroad in an exciting country while staying in dorms or with host families.
