‘It Takes a Village’ – And Ellen Baxter ’75 is Helping (New York Times)

Ellen Baxter '75

The work of Broadway Housing Communities, an affordable-housing nonprofit founded by Ellen Baxter ’75, is highlighted in a piece by New York Times op-ed columnist Charles M. Blow.

“Art and nature show the other side of poverty,” offers Baxter amid the conversation about the importance of beauty and art in the mission to provide not only shelter but inspiration. “Poverty denigrates people and dehumanizes people.”

Broadway Housing’s leadership team also includes Mary Ann Villari ’75, the organization’s managing director and general counsel.

I was delighted to come upon the NYT article. I knew that your project was amazing, and am so pleased it earned such a positive article from Charles Blow. Congratulations to you and Mary Ann.
