‘The Far North: A Donald MacMillan Lecture Film’ at the Boothbay Opera House Aug. 25 Archives

Explorer Donald MacMillan led more than 30 expeditions to the Arctic, often leaving from midcoast Maine aboard the East Boothbay built schooner Bowdoin. He returned with images and stories of the north and was a fabled lecturer throughout the northeast.

The Opera House in Boothbay Harbor was the location for many of his lectures and film presentations and on Thursday, August 25, 2011, the voice of MacMillan and the images he brought back from the Arctic will once again fill the House.

The Opera House, in cooperation with the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum, will present a free screening of The Far North-A Donald MacMillan Lecture Film.
