Renowned Painter Jamie Wyeth Illustrates Children’s Book (Portland Press Herald)

Sometimes all you have to do is ask. Pulitzer Prize-winning Maine writer Barbara Walsh wrote Sammy in the Sky, an emotional story about how a family copes with the death of their beloved dog, and then, out of the blue, she picked up the phone to ask world renowned painter Jamie Wyeth if he would illustrate it.

“The story absolutely rang true for me,” Wyeth tells the Portland Press Herald. “A dog’s death affects me much more than a person’s death.” Wyeth’s paintings for the book “convey the emotions of Walsh’s story: love, joy, grief and reconciliation.
