Doherty Marine Biology Postdoctoral Scholar Daniel Thornhill and Laura Newcomb ’11 are co-authors of a study examining the effects of an extended cold snap in early 2010 on coral reefs off the coast of Florida. Their research, supported by the National Science Foundation and the College, has been cited in several recent articles, including one in Science Daily. Thornhill and Newcomb were joined by other students during Spring Break 2010 as they undertook various research projects and learning about South Florida ecology while visiting the Everglades.
