Scholarships: A Little Gratitude Goes a Long Way (Inside Higher Ed)

“What do you say?” – a familiar refrain among parents trying to coax a thank you out of their child in attempts to teach, if not gratitude, at least good manners. Some college development offices are borrowing a page from that playbook – going so far as to withhold scholarship money until the student on the receiving end writes a thank you note to their benefactor. As Inside Higher Ed reports, not only is it the right thing for students to do, it can lead to donors staying connected – and in some cases, giving even bigger gifts the next time around.
