Bowdoin Leads the Way on Domestic Partner Health Benefits (New York Times)

On a New York Times list of companies offering domestic partnership benefits, Bowdoin College is alone in the Education Institutions category for its practice of covering the extra costs same-sex couples pay. The College’s policy to cover these extra costs went into effect in January 2010; domestic partner benefits – and the offset to cover the extra costs – are available to same- and opposite-sex partners.
