The women’s lacrosse team has earned its first trip to the NCAA Division III “Final Four.” The Polar Bears (17-3) dealt second-ranked Trinity (18-1) its first loss of the season in the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament Sunday, 9-6, giving 11th-ranked Bowdoin a trip to the national semifinals next Saturday at Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y. Rowing – The Bowdoin Varsity Women’s Four led the Polar Bear contingent at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia on Saturday, winning the Bronze Medal behind Washington University and Middlebury College in a thrilling finish. It is the third consecutive year that the Bowdoin women have medalled at Dad Vail.
Baseball – After a three-hour delay, torrential rain finally washed out the final day of the 2011 NESCAC Baseball Championship on Sunday, cutting short the conference final between Tufts and Bowdoin. Tufts earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament while Bowdoin was bypassed in selections announced Monday morning.
Men’s Tennis – Middlebury advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinal round for the ninth consecutive season with a 5-2 win over Bowdoin (13-7) in the third round of the Division III Tournament Sunday afternoon.
Women’s Tennis – The women’s tennis team saw its season come to an end at the hands of NESCAC foe Williams, 5-0, in the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Polar Bears end their season with a record of 13-6.
