‘It’s in the hole!’: Marissa O’Neil ’05 Scores an Ace

A decorated two-sport star in field hockey and ice hockey while a student at Bowdoin, head women’s ice hockey coach Marissa O’Neil ’05 may have missed her true athletic calling as an undergrad.
A relative newcomer to the sport of golf, O’Neil knocked home a hole-in-one in a late afternoon round on Thursday, May 12, at the Highland Green Golf Club in Topsham. Colleagues Jeff Pellegrini (assistant coach, men’s hockey), Lisa Batchelor (assistant coach, women’s hockey) and Mickey Rehring (assistant coach, football) were there to witness the feat. O’Neil carded the ace with her 5-iron on the 160-yard par-3 sixth hole.

Golf Digest recently put an amateur’s odds of a hole-in-one at 1 in 12,750.

    Congratulations on your hole-in-one.

Jill said she went golfing this week – maybe you can give her some pointers(ha).
