Bowdoin’s Herrera Amid Those ‘Understanding Connections Among Lobster, Herring, Groundfish and Us’ (GMRI) Archives

Guillermo "Ta" Herrera

Associate Professor of Economics Guillermo “Ta” Herrera is among the principle investigators in a research project examining the connections between the economics and biology of three fisheries in the Gulf of Maine.

Funded by the National Science Foundation, Herrera and other researchers from the Gulf of Maine Research Institute and University of Maine are investigating predator-prey relationships, influences of climate variability on early life history stages, and the economics within groundfish, herring and lobster fisheries. Their work will help construct predictive models to inform management strategies.
