Ted Wells ’98 and his fourth graders caught Oprah’s attention when their Catalog Canceling Challenge took fourth place in a National Geographic contest. Wells tells us he’ll be profiled on Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes airing at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 10, on OWN.
Wells’ school in Brookline, Mass., started a movement among more than 8,200 children in 22 states who have canceled 56,897 unwanted sales catalogs to save trees, water, energy and the climate. In fact, they’ve saved almost 1,000 trees and are closing in on one million gallons of water. Read Wells’ blog entry about the Oprah filming.
