Bowdoin Grad Teaching Fourth Graders to Make a Difference

We all get catalogs in the mail-some we want, some we don’t. According to Ted Wells ’98, who teaches fourth grade in Brookline, Mass., more than 600 catalogs are produced each second in the U.S., only a fraction of which are used to make a purchase. Wells and his students have come up with a program aimed at helping reduce the number of unwanted catalogs. “The Catalog Canceling Challenge” is a finalist in a National Geographic contest that asks readers to vote for a winner by March 16.
