Yellow Shirt Day Supports Bowdoin’s LGBTIQ Community

The bright spots on campus amid the gray and occasionally damp fall day Thursday were the participants in “Yellow Shirt Day,” a show of support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or questioning (LGBTIQ) community. BQSA, Bowdoin’s Queer Straight Alliance student group, sponsored the event, pre-selling hundreds of yellow shirts reading, “Gay? Fine by Me.”

Wonderful. With the election this week bringing many social conservatives into office, those supporting gay rights will have to work harder than ever. Hope this kind of campus visibility and support will continue. Can I get one of those shirts?

Awesome! Even we Polar Bears who weren’t ‘Bowdoin from birth’ think that this is great. Make up some extra shirts for the rest of us!
