The Polar Bears escaped with a football victory over Bates and will now try to capture the CBB title with a win next week over Colby in Waterville. Meanwhile, both the field hockey and men’s soccer teams advanced to their respective NESCAC title games to be played today.
Field Hockey: Junior Katie Herter scored 5:33 into the overtime period to lift the Polar Bears to a 3-2 victory against Amherst College in the semifinal round of the NESCAC Field Hockey Championship on Saturday afternoon at Tufts University’s Bello Field. Bowdoin (15-1), the #2 seed in the tournament, advances to play #1 seed and host Tufts in the conference final today at noon. Tufts will stream the contest live on the Internet.
Football: A 27-yard field goal attempt by Bates hit the upright with 51 seconds remaining to give the Bowdoin College football team a wild 21-20 win over Bates on Saturday afternoon at Whittier Field.
Men’s Soccer: Bowdoin junior Call Nichols converted on a penalty kick with under 23 minutes remaining to lift the Polar Bears to a 2-1 victory over Wesleyan in a NESCAC Men’s Soccer Semifinal on Saturday afternoon.
