‘Marathon Matriarch’ Joan Benoit Samuelson ’79 Takes on Chicago (NY Times)

Joan Benoit Samuelson ’79, Olympic gold medalist and two-time Boston Marathon winner, takes on the Chicago Marathon on the 25th anniversary of the record she set there in 1985. She may become the first woman to run a sub-three-hour marathon in five decades; if she can do it in less than 2 hours 46 minutes, Samuelson would qualify for the U.S. Olympic trials for a record fifth time in 2012.
