More colleges and universities are discovering what Ivy League and top liberal arts colleges have long known: It’s cool to sing a cappella. There has been a steep rise in singing groups similar to Bowdoin’s Meddiebempsters.

    I was part of tours to other New England campuses, the East Coast and internationally. Not only did we have fun as a group on each trip, but there were always plenty of people in the audience. In Bermuda one couple thought enough of our improv around the hotel pool to ask us to sing at their wedding.
