Women’s golf – The women’s golf team was impressive in their season debut at Brunswick Golf Club on Saturday. Chelsea Gross took medalist honors with a score of 84 (+12).”¨In a dual match between Bowdoin and Bates, the Polar Bears edged Bates by 10 strokes.
Men’s soccer – The Bowdoin and Amherst men’s soccer teams, both NCAA Tournament participants in 2009, played to a scoreless draw in their season opener on Saturday at Pickard Field.
Women’s soccer – A pair of goals by first-years lifted the Amherst College women’s soccer team to a 2-1 comeback win over Bowdoin.
Women’s rugby – The Polar Bears defeated Williams in their opener 53-3 before falling to Vermont 34-0 in the second game of the doubleheader. The Polar Bears conclude tournament play Sunday.
Women’s volleyball – The women’s volleyball team placed fourth at the Endicott Invitational after going 1-1 in a pair of matches Saturday. The Polar Bears (2-2) defeated Salve Regina, 3-0, before dropping to Middlebury, 3-0.
