Bowdoin’s ‘Lineman’ Moves to the Endzone, Dedicated Plaza outside Farley

Near the action at both Farley Field House and Watson Arena-and with an ever-watchful gaze down Coffin Street-The Lineman has been given a small grassy plaza to call his own. The statue, carved for the 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games by American painter and sculptor William Zorach H’58, and presented by the artist to the College in 1960, originally stood in the Museum of Art rotunda before taking a position outside Morrell Gym for more than 40 years. The addition of The Buck Center for Health and Fitness to the Morrell complex called for a new game plan.
