Wheeler Case Highlights Admissions Vulnerabilities (Boston Globe) Archives

When Adam Wheeler scammed his way into Harvard-a charge alleged in a 20 count criminal indictment filed this week in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn, Mass.-he exposed a vulnerability in the admissions process at elite colleges and universities. The sheer volume of materials submitted, combined with a large number of legitimate high-performing applicants, makes it largely impractical for a place like Harvard to verify every applicant’s credentials.
