Baseball: The Bowdoin College baseball team scored four times in the first inning and cruised to an 8-4 win over Bates on Friday afternoon. The win moves the Polar Bears to 22-11 (5-5 NESCAC) this season while the Bobcats fall to 22-9 (5-5 NESCAC). Bowdoin needs just one win against Bates in tomorrow’s doubleheader to clinch a postseason playoff bid while the Bobcats would need a sweep to earn the final spot in the NESCAC Tournament.

Men’s Lacrosse: In a back-and-forth bout that saw seven ties in the second half, Tufts University sophomore Kevin McCormick scored 33 seconds into overtime to give the seventh-ranked Jumbo men’s lacrosse team a scintillating 14-13 victory against Bowdoin College in the last game of the 2010 regular-season on Friday night under the lights at Bello Field.

Women’s Lacrosse: The Tufts University women’s lacrosse team dominated the second half, rallying from five-goal deficit to take an 11-9 win over Bowdoin on Friday evening. The ninth-ranked Jumbos improve to 11-3 (6-3 NESCAC) and earn the fifth seed for the upcoming NESCAC Championship. The Polar Bears fall to 10-5 (6-3 NESCAC) and will be the second seed in the conference tournament.

Softball: The Bowdoin College softball team turned the first triple play in school history and scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Bates, 3-2, in a NESCAC Eastern Division contest on Friday evening at Pickard Field. The Polar Bears improve to a program-best 28-10 (7-3 NESCAC) and can clinch a berth in the postseason tournament with one win tomorrow in their doubleheader against the Bobcats (4-22, 0-10) in Lewiston.
