Cool Tools: Lexicalist

It probably comes as no surprise that lots of people in Louisiana are talking about the BP oil spill, or that immigration is a hot topic in Arizona, but why are so many people in New Hampshire and Colorado talking about bomb scares?

Lexicalist, which bills itself as “a demographic dictionary of modern American English,” lets you see what people around America are talking about by typing any word into its search box. As it turns out, “lobster” is a slightly hotter topic in Utah than it is in Maine.
