Bowdoin Alumnus Sentenced in North Korea (Washington Post)

Aijalon Mahli Gomes, a member of the Bowdoin Class of 2001, has been fined and sentenced to eight years of hard labor by a North Korean court. Authorities in North Korea say Gomes entered the country illegally in January. U.S. officials believe he may now be used as a bargaining chip by Pyongyang.
